I am (poem)
(re-post from old blog – 2010)
I am what I am. No part of me is more important than any other, but the sum of these parts make up ME, a unique individual.
I am an empowered woman who can be anything she desires to be. I am insecure and afraid of failure.
I love trying new things. I get bored easily.
I am a strongly opinionated woman. I am sensitive and get my feelings hurt easily.
I am a strong willed woman with a strong independent streak. I am a spoiled brat.
I am headstrong and stubborn. I am reasonable.
I love to laugh. I get angry easily.
I am an intelligent educated woman. I am flighty and forgetful.
I am unique, imaginative, and often weird. I am grounded in reality.
I am submissive. I am aggressive.
I am a tree hugging hippy. I am also materialistic.
I am an activist. I am a peacemaker.
I am an artist. I am a writer. I am a nurturing mother. I am a supportive and caring friend. I am a dutiful daughter. I am a passionate lover. I am a giving wife. I am a protector of those who can’t protect themselves.
I am at times judgmental, bossy, lazy, selfish, and demanding. I am at other times sweet, considerate, playful, selfless, and understanding.
I am a woman. I am a contradiction. And I am ME.
